Manifesto
November 23rd is the International Day of Words, is an initiative of the CESAR EGIDO SERRANO Foundation, the ethos of the foundation being aware of the need of the dialogue as a fundamental tool for the eradication of all violence, we want to raise awareness throughout society, with this concept at the cornerstone of its foundational objectives and what is undoubtedly the only way to lasting peace among peoples, regardless of political or religious ideas.
Bearing in mind that the Charter of the United Nations States: "We the peoples of the United Nations are determined to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war, to reaffirm faith in the fundamental rights of man, in the dignity and worth of the human person, and for such purposes to practice tolerance and live together in peace as good neighbors”.
And recalling the words of the President of the Foundation, Mr. César Egido Serrano, "I am convinced that the twenty-first century is an era of understanding." The word has to be the bond of humanity and the only way to resolve conflicts has to be dialogue. This is in the hands of future generations, who intern will become our future leaders.
For this reason, the Foundation chose November 23rd, a day in which the Museum of Words inaugurated its headquarters in Quero, Toledo, as the emblematic date in which all can commemorate something so simple and at the same time as important, "The Word is link of humanity, against all violence".
The President of theFoundation Cesar Egido Serrano, their patronage, authorities and supporters, as well as universities, other foundations, diplomatic missions of other countries and different personalities from the world of culture, politics, literature and journalism, promoted this idea, which now can also support any citizen by signing with the list of accession, which will ratify in solemn ceremony, to the United Nations.
1) All persons, institutions and organizations, signatories of this manifesto, are accepted and considered essential for achieving peace in the global society, dialogue, and therefore the word, are the only means of understanding among peoples, and they accept, therefore, institutionalize the International Day of Word son November 23rd.
2) On this day, all those wishing to perform different celebrations related to the International Day of Word, so that these actions act as broadcaster and promoter of our ideas. Likewise, all those signatories attached to this manifesto undertake to coordinate or inform the Cesar Egido Serrano Foundation, of the above mentioned activities.
3) There is a tacit commitment for the dissemination and promotion of this day, for the sake of the concept that implies and which derives all its activity among the signatories.
4) The signers of this manifest, match, likewise, in its acceptance of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which States that "everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion" (article 18), "of opinion and expression" (article 19) and the education "promote understanding, tolerance and friendship among all Nations and all ethnic and religious groups" (article 26).
5) All subscribers of this document accepted as representatives to the relevant UN agency as well as any other profession nationally or internationally, the Commission delegated by the Foundation Cesar Egido Serrano, the appointment from its Board of Trustees in each case, and to act as spokesperson and representative for all purposes authorized.
6) As a common tool and to maintain an orderly and coherent follow-up of the different actions and proposals, it is accepted to create a network of communication and a efficient way of monitoring plan cooperation, called a network of participants. Composed of the main actors of this project, the follow-up Action Plan comprises a system of evaluation. The diplomatic representatives of the signatory countries, including the governing bodies of the United Nations and UNESCO, and the Spanish Government delegation, as legitimate representative and defender of the interests of the driving Foundation of the project. This follow-up Action Plan will be coordinated through regular consultations throughout the system of the United Nations and its specialized agencies, United Nations associations, associated schools of UNESCO, the UNESCO clubs and organizations, non-governmental, intergovernmental and regional from all regions of the world.
