Pastor Rosa Carballo gets the word Museum Award for his short story "La sopa".

Have participated in the contest 14,253 works from 89 countries.
The prize is worth $ 10,000 and three consolation prizes have been awarded one thousand euros each to microstories rated in other languages accepted for the contest: English, Arabic and Hebrew.
The Spanish writer Rosa Pastor Carballo won the award for the second edition of the international competition of micro Museum of the Word who is endowed with $ 10,000.

The short story is as follows:

La sopa
Nuestro padre solía morirse los domingos. Al principio nos lo tomábamos muy mal: avisábamos al médico, a la funeraria, nos vestíamos de negro, llorábamos… Pero luego, a fuerza de sustos nos acostumbramos, era su forma de vivir, y entre muerte y muerte la vida continuó a la espera de sus nuevas muertes. Su tenacidad para morirse no se debilitaba y una noche, en la cena, en una de sus muertes más teatrales arrastró a mamá con él. Y eso si fue serio porque ella, que no tenía imaginación, hundió la cabeza en la sopa y se murió.

Consolations prizes
The jury, on a proposal from the Fundacion Cesar Serrano Egido, approves award three Consolations prizes 1,000 dollars each to the stories that have earned the highest score in the other languages accepted in the competition and have been:

  • "Night Howl" in English, authored by Sonja Smolec of Croatia.
  • "A very old man on a bicycle" in Arabic authored by Samir Awwad Eid Sharif of Egypt.
  • And the story in Hebrew beginning with the phrase "One, two, three, four and five," authored by Roi Day of Israel.

This time have participated in the contest 14,253 works from 89 countries.

the jury was by Juan Luis Cebrian, Luis Alberto de Cuenca, Ignacio Elguero, Antonio Lamela, Joaquin Leguina, Manuel Llorente, Gloria Fernandez-Lomana, Mendicutti Eduardo Enrique Mugica, Jose Manuel Otero Lastres, Peter Piqueras, Raúl del Pozo, and Asuncion Vicente Tirado Valdes, and chaired by the director of the Museum of the Word, Alfonso Fernández Burgos.
